Best Ballet Choreography Nominee
RVA DANCE AWARDS NOMINEE
Nicole began her dance training in Miami, Florida under the direction of Tony Catanzaro. She graduated from New World School of Arts where she trained with Mia Michaels, Gerald Ebitz, and Judith Newman. While training in high school, Nicole was fortunate to be able to work with Miami City Ballet.
Upon graduation, Nicole joined Atlanta Ballet where she danced for four seasons performing soloist roles in Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, Alice in Wonderland, Serenade, and Raymonda.
Nicole continued her dance journey by touring with Disney Live entertainment throughout Europe. Moving back to Georgia, Nicole became a guest artist for Ballet Tennessee, and Ballet Du Soleil. Later she joined Georgia Ballet, under the direction of Gina Hyatt Mazon, and Janusz Mazon. Where she performed, taught, and became production manager.
I am currently the Ballet Mistress for Stavna Ballet professional company, under the artistic direction of Shannon McConville. At Stavna, I have had the pleasure of choreographing for Wizard of Oz, Dracula, and other contemporary ballet works. I also set Sleeping Beauty, Nutcracker, Vivaldi Four Seasons, and Paquita.
In January 2019, I became the Ballet Mistress for J’adore Dance under the direction of Lauren Gareau. I love the opportunity to work with her young up and coming students, as well as her Jadore Dance Project (JDP) company members. This season we added a pre-professional program to provide more advanced ballet instruction to students.
I’m honored to be nominated as Best Ballet Choreographer. My passion is telling the audience a story through innovative ballet. I’m humbled and amazed to be recognized in the RVA dance community, with such a talented group of artists.
Fun fact about me: My husband and I have five children, none of which dance. Some weeks we spend more hours at a USA swimming meet, than I do in the studio.
