Meet J.Static
Born and raised in RVA I've always had a passion for Art, Dance, and Music since I was born! Growing up with uncles and family members singing in bands and performing, a mother who was a gymnast, and a father who a danced for artists like TLC and MC Hammer you would think I came out the womb dancing like a true prodigy... WRONG ! I couldn't even clap on beat! I didn't develop even the concept of music until I was around 13.
That's when I decided to join my church dance ministry The B.O.M.B S.Q.U.A.D (Being all. About the. Master's. Business. We were Sanctified. Qualified. Unified. Deliverers of God's Word). This ministry prepared me for the professional world and gave me life long friends when I needed them the most along my journey.
Growing up in Richmond wasn't always easy. Before being "Weird" and "Different" was cool, I was teased and ridiculed a lot in the Richmond Public School system. It wasn't until I moved to Chesterfield and started attending Cloverhill High School when things turned around for me. This is where I found my passion of performing . I found myself performing with the number 1 show choir in the nation. This gave me a taste of fame and touring. I instantly fell in love.
I went on to college to study business while working retail when I realized I wouldn't be happy doing anything other than performing. So I dropped out, quit, and said "Mom I'm going to be a professional dancer". She has supported me ever since!
I've now gone on to hosting dance workshops, touring with professional companies like the Latin Ballet Of Virginia, and teaching at several amazing studios in the area. I am also now choreographing for several show choirs, including my old show choir partnering with my previous choreographer.
This is my dance journey.
